Mechanical CAD Expert – Remote, $40‑$80/hr

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical CAD Expert to work remotely on a contract basis, providing detailed analysis of multi‑part assemblies and creating precise technical question‑and‑answer sets. The position is hourly, with compensation ranging from $40 to $80 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze multi‑part mechanical assemblies supplied in native FreeCAD files, ensuring full understanding of component relationships and design intent.
• Develop objective, non‑guessable, and precise question‑and‑answer sets for each assigned assembly, focusing on technical accuracy and clarity.
• Create several detailed technical questions per assembly covering functions, design rationale, and dimensional considerations.
• Format each question and corresponding answer to be unambiguous and aligned with real‑world engineering standards.
• Submit high‑quality deliverables within agreed‑upon project parameters while maintaining clear communication with coordinators.
• Leverage written and verbal communication skills to clarify ambiguities and collaborate effectively within a distributed team.
• Adapt to project requirements and manage deliverables independently in a remote work context.

Required profile

• Proven background in mechanical engineering, aerospace, or industrial design.
• Strong experience interpreting and analyzing complex mechanical assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with FreeCAD is advantageous; experience with other CAD platforms (SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor) is valuable.
• Demonstrated ability to author clear, precise, and objective technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to technical accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical insights.
• Ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and adapt to project requirements in a remote context.
