Manufacturing Design Engineer – FreeCAD (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer with strong expertise in FreeCAD to create production‑ready 3D models and engineering drawings for a variety of manufacturing processes. This remote contract position offers flexible hours ranging from 10 to 40 per week.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T annotations and tolerance stack‑ups, ready for manufacturing handoff.
• Design components for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Perform CAD validation and quality‑assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and manufacturability.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to improve models and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Hands‑on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
• Ability to produce production‑grade CAD models and validate them against real‑world criteria.
