Materials Engineer – Remote Contract ($80-$100/hr)

About the role

We are seeking a Materials Engineer to work remotely on a contract basis, supporting AI‑training initiatives by reviewing and annotating technical materials data. The role involves translating advanced materials science concepts for diverse audiences and ensuring high‑quality scientific content.

Key responsibilities

• Review, assess, and annotate technical materials datasets, literature, and documentation for accuracy and clarity.
• Formulate clear explanations of advanced materials science concepts for both expert and non‑expert audiences.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on AI‑generated content related to materials engineering, metallurgy, and related disciplines.
• Develop and validate domain‑specific scenarios, case studies, or problem sets for AI training purposes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to define data requirements and quality benchmarks.
• Ensure all deliverables meet established scientific standards and project specifications.

Required profile

• Strong experience in materials characterization, processing, selection, or testing across various applications.
• MS or PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven ability to communicate complex concepts clearly in written and verbal formats.
• Proficiency in reviewing scientific literature and interpreting experimental data.
• Familiarity with digital tools for remote collaboration and technical content review.
